The Bedale, one of the most famous of Northern Hunts, have a country in the North Riding of Yorkshire, extending roughly from Richmond to Ripon, north to south, and from Northallerton westward to the Dales around Leyburn.
The Friday country is mainly arable vale; the Monday country, which is west of the A1, rises to the Dales. Fences are mainly rails and hedges with some stone walls in the Monday country. A three-quarters or seven-eights type horse that can jump is most suitable. Adjoining hunts are the Zetland, Wensleydale, Hurworth, Bilsdale, York and Ainsty (North), and West of Yore.
